A two term Governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has pledged his support for the gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Biyi Otegbeye.
Amosun called on the people of the state to reject his successor, governor Dapo Abiodun at the polls.
He described Otegbeye as more resourceful than the incumbent governor.
Amosun stated this on Wednesday at the campaign flag-off of ADC, held at Ake palace in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The former governor who was also absent at the APC Presidential campaign in the state last Wednesday, arrived at about 1:55pm on foot and was greeted with great admiration from his supporters.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign train which was slated for Ado-Odo Ota Local Government same day was ignored by the former governor, like the other campaigns of the party in the state.
Amosun who told his supporters that, he is still remain a member of the APC, urged them to vote for the Presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu as Nigeria President.
He said, “Vote for gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barr. Biyi Otegbeye and vote for the House representative candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) for Abeokuta South federal constituency, Hon. Micky Kazzim and all state Assembly candidates of ADC at the poll.”
He disclosed that, it is high time for people of Ogun West to produce governor because in the history of the state it is only the Ogun Central and East that have produced governor of the state.
He assured that, Otegbeye is the only one who can made the government continuity to come to reality for the betterment of state.
He expressed his displeasure on how the present government in the state led by his successor, Gov. Dapo Abiodun do multiple the amount they use for the renovation of the project been commissioned by him.
“I thank you all for gracing this gathering just because of me. I don’t want you to be confused because i am still a member of APC. I’m here to let you know the two reasons you are seeing me here. The one is that I’m here to tell you that, I’m supporting Tinubu of APC and I want you to vote for him.
“I want you to vote for Otegbeye to be the governor of this state because this is the time for Ogun West to have their indigent to be the governor of this state. And don’t forget to vote for Hon. Micky Kazzim as Reps memeber because he is part of Amosun Political Family and other ADC candidates in Ogun state.
“The second one is to bring back the glory of our state. And it is only Otegbeye who can continue from where i stopped and take the state to higher position among his counterparts in Country.
“I’m always confused whenever i see the amount the present government always spend for the renovation of the projects which is more than the total amount of Money for those projects.
The gubernatorial candidate of ADC, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye disclosed his readiness to reform Ogun state and give it the beautiful face it lacks in the last three years.
He added that, the glory of the state is almost neutralized by the present government because of their own selfish interest.
He emphasized that, those responsible for the neutralization of the state are minority but they only after their own pocket.
“I’m ready to restore Ogun state because for the past 3years things are not good in this state.
“All the labour of our forefathers since the commencement of this state in 1967 has been destroyed by the present government.
“Those in charge of this state are very small and they are using our wealth to enrich their pocket.
While addressing the newsmen, the ADC candidates for State Assembly in Abeokuta South constituency 2, Hon. Adebayo Jimoh popularly known as Sakotun gave an assurance of good representation for constituents if elected.
He added that, his antecedent when he was the local government chairman speaks and campaigns for him with no doubt and promised to do more than that at the state Assembly by sponsoring bills that will be useful for them.
He however, urged his constituents to vote massively for him and other candidates of ADC in the state and implored them to refrain from selling their vote at the poll.
