The Onirete of Irete-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government area of Ogun State, Oba (Dr.) Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Olusegun Yesufu-Awokoya has commended the effort of both the Federal and the State Government on the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of Ala/Ejirin/Irete/Omu-Ijebu road.
Oba Awokoya who lauded the government on the quality of work done on the ongoing road reconstruction, posited that the road when completed would engendered socio-economic development of the towns along the road.
He further stated that the completion of the road would not only attract investors but, also expose the towns along the road to the world thereby attracting foreign investments not only to the area but, to the state at large.
The monarch implored citizens of the area especially those in diaspora to come home and invest and also contribute positively to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the area.
In the same vein, Oba Awokoya pointed out that, the ongoing modern market situated at Irete-Ijebu would soon be completed.
He said that the modern market built via community self effort when completed would contribute highly to the economic growth of Irete town and its environs.
On his own, the Chairman of Anowoneyo Area Community Development Committee, Irete-Ijebu, Prince Saheed Dosumu urged people of the town to make good use of the facilities provided in the area especially the modern market.
The community leader assured people of the town that the committee in collaboration with the monarch of the town and the State Government would not relent on their oars at making life more meaningful for the people of the area.
He used the opportunity to appealed to the Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s led administration to please come to the aids of the town, pointing out that the only transformer given to the town by the state government is no longer working.
According to Prince Dosumu, “sincerely, this government is trying but, we just need to encourage them to do more. We need transformers in Irete. The only one given to us few months ago is no longer working. We want the government to please come and help us replace it with additional two. One transformer cannot sustain a big town like Irete that is hosting a college of education.
“Our inner community roads are in very bad state. We also need health centers, more primary and secondary schools and solar street lights. No doubt, we shall continue to thank Gov. Dapo Abiodun, for different legacy projects doing across Ogun State and particularly in rural areas.
