…Reinforces Importance of Stop-and-Search Operations

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects in connection with the unlawful possession of three human skulls during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ijebu area of the state.
The disturbing discovery occurred on Monday, August 11, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., when officers of the 71 PMF Awa Ijebu were conducting surveillance along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway, near the Refugee Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the officers intercepted a motorcycle rider, Kadir Owolabi (male), and, upon searching his belongings, found three human skulls concealed in his luggage.
Following preliminary investigations, police traced and arrested a second suspect, Jamiu Yisa (male, 53 years old), at a location behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command emphasized that this incident highlights the effectiveness and necessity of routine stop-and-search operations in curbing crime and intercepting dangerous elements before they wreak havoc on society.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to proactive crime-fighting efforts. We urge members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement and to report suspicious activities. We assure citizens of confidentiality and full protection of their identity,” said CSP Odutola.
The suspects are currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the source and purpose of the human remains.
